The International Conference Students for Students is designed for undergraduate and master students in the fields of chemistry and chemical engineering. It is hosted by the Chemical Students Organization with the help of the Faculty of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering from the Babeș-Bolyai University and the Romanian Chemical Society, Cluj-Napoca branch. The XVIth edition will take place between the 3rd and the 7th of April 2019.
The XVIth International Conference Students for Students will take place in Cluj-Napoca, between 3rd and 7th of April 2019.
The conference is structured into 3 main sections: Posters, Chemistry and Chemical Engineering. The participants can present their work as posters or as oral presentations.
The scientific committee comprises of distinguished professors from the Faculty of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, Cluj-Napoca. They are going to evaluate the participants’ research papers by taking into consideration their scientific relevance, originality and the knowledge level on the subject matter of the participants.
The organizing committee is keen to offer the participants a complete experience in Cluj-Napoca by carefully blending academic, social and cultural activities. The participants will have the chance not only to meet fellow young chemists from many European Universities but also to learn from more experienced researchers.
Depending on the area of interest, the papers will be assigned to one of the 3 sections of the conference: Chemical Engineering, Chemistry and Posters. Each participant may choose his presentation support (powerpoint, poster) but if the consistence criteria for the chosen paper are not met, the organizers reserve the right to recommend the poster section.
Evaluation criteria include the originality and quality of your work, the importance and relevance of the chosen subject, methods of structural analysis and investigation techniques, level of personal contribution, etc. The year of study is not a determining criterion. The conference addresses all students studying for a BSc or MSc degree.
The official language of the conference is English
Chemistry Students’ Organization Cluj-Napoca is the main organizer of this event. Each edition, the Faculty of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering and the Romanian Chemical Society have been kindly supporting us.
Who are we?
The Chemistry Students’ Organization Cluj-Napoca is a non-governmental organization with a rich activity background, being founded in 1991 by a group of ambitious students from the Faculty of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering in Cluj-Napoca. The organization was founded to uphold and promote the interests of students from the faculty, its activities reaching out from scientific, cultural or social domains all the way to professional evolution of the students.
The backbone of the organization is the Board of Directors, formed of the Directors of the departments, the Secretary, the Auditor, the Vice-president and the President. They oversee the entire management and well being of the organization. Each year new members are being recruited and assigned to one of the four departments of their choice: Academic Activities, Human Resources, Media&PR andFinances.
Over the years the organization has continuously extended its activities. At the present time we are upholding annually over 8 projects, a landmark in the history of our development being the conception of the Students for Students Conference which had its first edition in the year 2003. At that time it started as internal project addressed to the students of the faculty of chemistry, but over the years it evolved reaching the status of international conference with participants from all across the world, hosting in the year 2014 the 11th edition.
As volunteering is the form of activity, the driving force for the involvement of the members is their own desire to improve the quality of experiences for both themselves and for fellow students and future generations. The organization upholds these ideas and promotes activities which intend to bring students in the foreground of the university life.
